Composite: Gallery, tabs and drop-down
A composite is a component that allows you to add different types of interactive menus:
- Gallery/slideshow type menu
- Tab menu
. Drop-down menu
Each author license allows different actions to be performed with the content boxes:
Easy License:
- Adding content blocks
- Duplicate or delete content blocks
- Move content blocks from one position to another
- Modify compound properties
- Modify completeness requirements
- Add events
Professional License:
- Add compounds within rows
- Move position
- Duplicate or delete
- Modify the visibility of a compound
Adding content blocks
A composite, regardless of its view (gallery, tabs or drop-down) allows you to add as many content blocks as you need. Thus, you can create an image gallery with 4 elements, a drop-down menu with 10 options.....
As an Easy license author, click on any element within the compound (a text, an image...) and you will see a new pop-up window titled "Gallery".
If you click "Add block" you will be able to add new content blocks to your menu or gallery.
After adding as many blocks as you need, you can configure their contents.
Just click on each of them and the components inside will be displayed on the screen. From there, by selecting each text, image or video, you will be able to modify its content.
Duplicate or delete content blocks
If you want to create a copy of one of the existing blocks or delete them, click on the menu of each block and choose the right option.
Move content blocks to a different position
You can reposition and move the content blocks by dragging them from this button and dropping them in the new position.
Modify the general properties of the compound
Remember that you can access the composite properties menu by clicking on the cogwheel icon in the upper right corner of the window.
The properties that you can configure are:
- Its title. It will be useful for you to customize it to recognize the table of contents from the breadcrumb trail
- Its identifier. This is auto-generated by the system, but you can customize it. If you customize it you will help the trace that the unit sends to the platform to be clearer. Remember that the Identifiers must be different, you cannot repeat any identifier of any element within the unit, so be careful when modifying them and do not repeat them.
Modifier compound completeness requirements
For a compound to be considered complete, students must complete a series of "tasks" called objectives, in this case, interacting with the content blocks that have been added.
As an author you can decide to specify generic targets for all compounds of the unit in the unit configuration area, or you can define these targets in more detail, compound by compound.
In this case you can decide:
- Does not count towards the completeness criterion. The component is not a unit target. If it does not interact with its areas/markers, it will not be taken into account in the unit completeness calculation.
- Visit with a slide. Objectives will be completed as soon as the learner interacts with at least one of the content blocks.
- View all slides. The objectives will be completed as soon as the student interacts with all the content blocks.
- Use the configuration defined at unit level. This option "delegates" the decision of whether it is a target or not to the overall unit configuration.
Add events
Events are automated actions that you want to occur after a specific trigger.
Select the compound and click the "Add event" option in the "Properties" tab.
The trigger is "Completion requirements have been met", i.e., when the completeness requirements configured for the composite are met.
When that trigger is executed, the following can happen:
- That a pop-up window is displayed.
- A notification is displayed.
Remember that, after configuring the event, you must press the "SAVE" button.
Add a new compound
With the Professional author license you can add new compounds.
To do so, you have the + button in the lower left area.
You will be able to choose from the templates that have been determined for the theme you are using.
Remember that any component you add will always be inside a row, so you have two ways to add a new compound.
- Select an existing element on the screen (a row, a text, an image...). Then, just add the desired component by clicking on it. It will be added below the selected element (or as the last element of the row).
- Drag the component to the screen. By moving the mouse pointer over the elements on the screen you can decide where to place the component. To help you, color-coded bars will be displayed:
Move a compound to a different position
With the Professional author license you can move a component by position
All you have to do is select it by clicking on its label and use the initial icon to drag the element.
Remember that to help you choose the desired position, color-coded bars will be displayed:
- Blue: will move creating a new section.
- Orange: will move creating a new row.
- Green: will move creating a new column.
- Gray: will move under another existing element.
Duplicate or delete compound
Select the component and, from its label, you can duplicate or delete it.
Modify compound visibility
You can decide whether a compound is visible or not according to the condition you decide. Click on "Add condition".
Here you can decide which object/component will be used as a referent and then you can decide the trigger that will make the text visible. Depending on the object you choose, you will have different triggers... For example, you could make a compound visible when the learner passes an activity, or after clicking on a previous video or audio...
