Support for languages with right-to-left reading direction (RTL)
Author supports the creation of content in languages with right-to-left reading direction (Arabic, Hebrew, Yiddish, Farsi Persian, Pashto, Urdu, Sindhi). The contents are automatically adapted to be read correctly:
- The direction and alignment of texts automatically changes from right to left
- The text component allows you to indicate that a part of the text is in another language. When one of these RTL languages is indicated, its direction is automatically reversed
- In these languages, by default, the order of the columns is reversed so that they appear in the reverse direction
- In the activities of the questionnaires, the selectors (radio buttons and checks) appear inverted (to the right)
- Tabs appear in reverse order
- Navigation between slides in carousels (sliders), and between pages, changes from right to left
- Exceptions to this default behavior are possible. Professional licensed authors can force the direction of the content of a section or row from “left to right” or “right to left”
Manage unit languages
For unit language management, go to "Unit Configuration".
Accessing the "Manage languages" area you can:
-
Add a new language, by clicking on the blue button below.
-
Set one of the languages as default, which means the language that is loaded first when you open the drive. This only works when there are several languages available.
-
Edit the language of the translation. Click on "Edit" and you will be able to change the language designated for it.
-
Delete a language. It only works when there are several languages available, default language can't be deleted.
-
Generate a new translation using an Artificial Intelligence engine.
-
Translate the unit using XLIFF files. You must export the content, and once the file is translated import it back.
The AI machine translation process may take several minutes, depending on the length of the unit's content.
Translating a unit manually
To translate manually, once you have added the new language in the configuration, click on the button on the left bar to select the current language. As you switch to each language, you will be able to change the text.
Remember that you will have to translate all the elements on the screen, including the texts of the buttons (forward, back, answer, retry...). And you can also replace the multimedia elements by language. So you could have a different video or image in each language. This is especially useful when you have images with text
The student will be able to switch languages via the button in the header, which opens a new selection window.
