Initial setup | Configure unit objectives
Goals are actions that the student must take to terminate a unit. Author allows in various templates we can configure that interaction with virtually any component becomes a goal. For example, we could say that the student should visit all the screens of the unit; or that you must also view all the videos on the unit; or that you need to pass the questionnaires...
Once we set goals, they must all be met at 100%. So, if you have to watch the videos, you'll need to watch them all, unless we've removed that restriction from an individual video.
In most templates, by default, the student must meet at least one goal for the unit to be completed in the LMS: to visit all pages and all screens of the unit (no need to complete them, i.e. scroll to the end).
From there, you can modify and make a custom configuration.
Remember
Goal settings are independent of the way you navigate.
You can configure the desired goals and set a sequential or free navigation (See here). So, for example, we could have a content where the goal is to visit all screens, but with free navigation. Thus, the student will be able to visit them in the order that he/she wishes, but he will have to visit them all.
See how goals and navigation are set up in this video:

3. After selecting the desired targets, press "Save" in the Navigation section.
Modify the objectives of a particular component
Imagine that you have marked that the goal is to start the videos of the unit. This will force all videos that have been incorporated to be viewed.
But the Tokyo template allows you to customize this behavior. So, you could say they look all but one of them.
To do so:
1. Enter the editing area and select the component you want to modify
2. In the "Exceed Target" property you will see that, by default, "Legacy" is marked. This means that the general parameter configured in the project properties will be applied. By displaying the menu you will be able to choose from the other options available for the configuration of the objectives. So, for example, you could make this video non-target.
Show the list of goals to students
If the unit has been configured with sequential navigation and required objectives, the page feed button will be locked, and clicking on it will display a popup indicating what the student must do to advance.
But if the navigation is free, the student will be able to access any page freely, without receiving specific notifications of the objectives that he/she must perform. For this reason you can activate the "Unit Objectives" button located on the interface,
To activate it you must:
1. Access the interface properties.
2. Mark the "Show Goals" property to "Yes".
