Questionnaire

Quizzes are the most versatile component, allowing the creation of all types of questions and activities, from evaluable quizzes to reinforcement activities throughout the units.

Each author license allows different actions to be performed with the questionnaires

Easy license:

Configure the introduction and closing of the questionnaire
Add activities
Duplicate or delete activities
Move activities from one position to another.
Modify the cut-off score and the calculation method.
Define if it is an evaluable quiz or not.
Set the number of attempts
Set a time limit
Modify completeness requirements
Add automatic events.

Professional license:

Add a questionnaire within rows
Move position
Duplicate or delete
Modify the visibility of the questionnaire

Configure the introduction and closing of the quiz.

Quizzes can have an introduction screen (useful for giving initial instructions to the student) and a closing screen (usually used to indicate to the student whether or not he/she has passed the quiz).

Depending on the topic chosen, you can have different types of quizzes.

Usually quizzes with several questions show these two screens, but, for example, to show individual reinforcement activities throughout the unit it will be more common for these two screens to be hidden.

As an Easy license author, click on any element within the compound (a text, an image...) and you will see a new pop-up window titled "Questionnaire".

In this area you will be able to activate or deactivate the introduction and closing by simply pressing this option:

By clicking on the introduction block or on the closing block you will access its content, you will be able to configure its content, according to the components that have been added by the designer to the questionnaire template.
For example, you can configure the introduction text and/or image, the start button, the texts of the final feedbacks, the text of the buttons to make a new attempt .... etc.

Adding activities

In a questionnaire you can add as many activities as you need.

As an Easy License author, click on any element within the compound (a text, an image...) and you will see a new pop-up window titled "Questionnaire".

Then click on the "Add activity" button and choose one of the available activity types. Depending on each topic, you will have different templates available for each type of activity.

After adding the activity, you can access it by clicking on its block and configure its content.

Duplicate or delete activities

If you want to create a copy of one of the existing activities or delete it, click on the menu of each activity and choose the correct option.

Move the activities to a new position

You can reposition and move activities by dragging them from this button and dropping them in the new position.

Modifying the cut-off mark and the calculation method

In the properties of the quiz, in the "Settings" area, you have two properties that allow you to define the cut-off mark required to pass the quiz and how the mark will be calculated.

Percentage of success. Here you define the percentage needed to pass the quiz. Remember that the cut-off mark of the quiz is not the same as the cut-off mark of the unit. If there is only one quiz in your unit, it is logical that both cut-off marks coincide.
Calculation method. There are two ways of calculating the grade achieved by the students:
- By the points of the activities. With this method the total grade is calculated by adding the partial grades obtained in each activity. It is not necessary to answer all the questions correctly in their entirety. Partial correct answers are also taken into account. Thus, if an activity has four options and you correctly mark two of them, you will be awarded half of the grade assigned for the activity.
- For activities passed. In this case, only the activities passed in their entirety are taken into account, partial passes are not added up. If you have 8 activities and 4 of them are correct, the grade will be 50%.

Define whether it is an evaluable questionnaire or not

In the properties of the quiz, in the "Settings" area, you have the property "Evaluable". If you activate this option, the score of this quiz will be used for the calculation of the total grade of the unit and will be sent to the training platform. If you deactivate the option, it will not be taken into account for the overall grade calculation. This is usual to create reinforcement activities throughout the unit.

Setting the number of attempts

In the properties of the quiz, in the "Settings" area, you have two properties to define the number of attempts the student will have to answer the quiz:

- Unlimited attempts. If this option is enabled, unlimited attempts will be provided to the student to answer the questionnaire.

- Number of attempts. If the Unlimited attempts option is disabled, you can set a specific number of attempts.

Set a time limit

In the properties of the quiz, in the “Settings” area, you can set a time limit for completing the quiz. When the time runs out, the questionnaire is terminated, no more answers can be given and no more attempts can be made.

It is only recommended to activate this feature if the quiz has a progress bar to show the time available.

The properties available to you are:

- Time limit. You can set the desired time in seconds. Remember that the time applies to the whole quiz, it is not a time for each attempt.

- Pause timer. This option allows you to define if the timer will not stop under any circumstances or if it will stop in any situation: when changing pages in the unit, when closing the unit, etc. It is recommended to set at least one pause criterion, for example when closing the unit.

Modify the completeness requirements

For a questionnaire to be considered completed, the student must complete a series of "tasks" called objectives, with a choice between:

- Respond, i.e., it will be sufficient to answer the questionnaire, regardless of whether or not it is passed.

- Pass or finish, i.e., it will be necessary to pass the cut-off mark or, failing that, to exhaust the attempts of the questionnaire.

As an author you can decide to specify generic objectives for all unit compounds in the unit configuration area, or you can define these objectives in more detail, questionnaire by questionnaire.

In this case you can decide:

Not a target. The component is not a target of the unit. If you do not interact with it, it will not be taken into account in the unit completeness calculation.
Answer questionnaire. You need to answer at least once the quiz, regardless of whether you pass it or not.
Pass or Finish. The objectives will be completed in one of two scenarios:
- As soon as the student passes the cut score.
- Or upon completion of the quiz. Completion can occur, for example, when all available attempts are exhausted or after pressing a "Finish" button.
As configured at unit level. This option "delegates" the decision whether it is a target or not to the overall unit configuration.

Adding events

Events are automated actions that you want to occur after a specific trigger.

Select the questionnaire and click the "Add event" option in the "Properties" tab.

You will be able to choose between 3 triggers:

- When the questionnaire is passed.

- When the questionnaire is not passed.

- When the completeness requirements have been met.

When this trigger is executed, the actions that may occur are:

- That a pop-up window is displayed.

- A notification is displayed.

Remember that, after configuring the event, you must press the "SAVE" button.

Adding a new questionnaire

With the Professional author license you can add new questionnaires.

To do so, you have the + button located at the bottom left.

You will be able to choose from the templates that have been determined for the theme you are using.

Remember that any component you add will always be inside a row, so you have two ways to add a new questionnaire.

- Select an existing element on the screen (a row, a text, an image...). Then, simply add the desired component by clicking on it. It will be added below the selected element (or as the last element of the row).

- Drag the component to the screen. By moving the mouse pointer over the elements on the screen you can decide where to place the component. To help you, color-coded bars will be displayed:

Moving a position questionnaire

With the Professional author license you can move a component by position.

All you have to do is select it by clicking on its label and use the initial icon to drag the item.

Remember that to help you choose the desired position, color-coded bars will be displayed:

- Blue: will move creating a new section.

- Orange: will move creating a new row.

- Green: will move creating a new column.

- Gray: it will move under another existing element.

Duplicate or delete questionnaire

Select the component and, from its label, you can duplicate or delete it.

Modify the visibility of the questionnaire

You can decide whether a questionnaire is visible or not according to the condition you decide. Click on "Add condition".

Here you can decide which object/component will be used as a referent and then you can decide which trigger will make the questionnaire visible. Depending on the object you choose, you will have different triggers. For example, you could make a quiz visible after viewing a previous video or audio...
