Diplomas
The Certificates feature in LMS allows you to attach a diploma that certifies the student for completing the formation when creating a training for a content.
So far you could choose between the platform's default certificates, or request a new one from your Learning Consultant or KAM.
But thanks to the new tool Diplomas you will be able to create and customise our own certificates in Author, and use them directly in LMS.
Create a Diploma
Diplomas are created and edited the same way as authoring units. To create a new diploma access your project and click on the + button in the bottom right.
Thumbnails of the diplomas are also similar to those of the units. To separate one from the other you can create a new folder to include them.
Select the option Create diploma, you will go to a new page with the available theme catalog for diplomas.
With the release of the next versions of Author there will be new themes available, including a design for FUNDAE's subsidised trainings.
Clicking on any of them you can see the information window with the most important features (layout, design of both sides, languages...). Choose the one that best suits your needs, as you can then modify it in the editor.
Editing a diploma
As said before, diplomas are edited in a similar way to the authoring units, adding and modifying components. To jump from one side of the diploma to the other, change pages in the Unit content section. Other common options such as color scheme, font families or the language management are also available.
The Version history tool is also available in the diplomas. Thanks to it, you can create new versions of the diploma as the training content evolves.
Variables
A very important issue when editing a diploma is the text variables. Variables allow you to add automated contents, in this case the fields that show the name of the student, title of the course, dates... All these data are imported from LMS when generating each diploma, that is why it is important to introduce the variable correctly.
To add a variable you must press the key combination CTRL+ALT+1 inside a text. Remember that you must do it in a gap between words, it does not work if the cursor is stuck to another word. These are the available variables:
Function

DIPLOMA_STUDENT_NAME
Last name of the student
DIPLOMA_STUDENT_SURNAME

DIPLOMA_STUDENT_NAME_SURNAME

DIPLOMA_STUDENT_IDENTIFICATION_NUMBER
Name of the course
DIPLOMA_COURSE_NAME

DIPLOMA_TRAINING_NAME
External ID of the training
DIPLOMA_TRAINING_IDENTIFIER

DIPLOMA_START_DATE
End date of the training
DIPLOMA_END_DATE
Date of certificate expedition
DIPLOMA_EXPEDITION_DATE
Course length (in minutes)
DIPLOMA_DURATION_MINUTES
Course length (in hours)
DIPLOMA_DURATION_HOURS
List of activities that took place in the course (usually to be printed on the back)
DIPLOMA_ACTIVITIES_TEXT
Date when the student completed the training
DIPLOMA_COMPLETION_DATE
Tax identification number of the company (CIF or similar)
DIPLOMA_COMPANY_IDENTIFICATION_NUMBER
Company name (for FUNDAE specific diplomas)
DIPLOMA_COMPANY_NAME
Company logos, signatures... must be added directly to the diploma, they cannot be imported from the LMS.
When you finish editing the diploma, it is necessary to save it as a new version in order to use it in the LMS, and then assign one of these versions to the training. This way, if you edit the diploma again, the changes will not affect the one that the student downloads, until you save another version and assign it again to the training.
Unlike authoring units, it is not necessary to publish diplomas to use them in the LMS.
Using a new diploma in LMS
After creating a new diploma in Author, you only need to access the Admin Portal and select it in the Training details menu. Each version of the diploma can be associated to a content training. This means that students who pass that training will have access to the indicated version, even if you have created new versions in Author. This way, you will be able to make changes without affecting the diplomas that are being generated at that moment. Likewise, until the new version of a diploma is saved, it will not be available in the LMS.
